Public Reception to Kick Off Nature Art Showcase Friday in Franklin
The public is invited to the Seventh Annual Nature Art Showcase and Sale on Friday evening, February 3, and Saturday, February 4 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. This is a free public event featuring original art items prepared by 71 artists from nine Pennsylvania counties, a significant increase from the 2022 Showcase.
A reception combining refreshments and the opportunity to interact with many of the artists kicks off the two-day event which depicts four seasons of outdoor recreation and natural landscapes of northwestern Pennsylvania. The reception is Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA.
This year’s participating artists have generated an extensive variety of artwork, including the following techniques of visual artistic expressions: pottery; fabric arts; painting with acrylics, oil, watercolor, and alcohol ink; sculpture; 3-D photography and 2-D photography; wood carving; drawings in pastels and pencil; mosaics; woodland materials; painted porcelain; and mixed media pieces. Many items are available for on-site purchase.
For instance, veterinarian Dr. Kimberly Berry from Chicora, PA in Butler County is also an avid bird-watcher who uses her camera to capture photographs of the birds and beauty she observes while hiking the North Country Trail and various game lands. A pair of wood ducks grace her entry entitled “Watchful Eye.”
Gold Sponsors for this year’s exhibit are Clarion Area Chamber of Business and Industry, French Creek Framing and Fine Art, The Gallery at New Bethlehem Town Center, Oil City Arts Council, Oil Region Alliance, Titusville Council on the Arts, Victorian City Art and Frame, and Anonymous Friends. Silver sponsors are the following organizations: Barrow-Civic Theatre; Ernst Conservation Seeds; Franklin Fine Arts Council; Moonrise Porcelain & Stoneware; Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce; Titusville Renaissance, Inc.; and Be Here – Venango Area Chamber of Commerce.
